  • Permits are required to travel between Kata Tjuta and
    the NT Border Contact Central Land Council 08 8951 6211
  • Permits are required to travel between NT Border and
    Laverton Contact Ngaanyatjarra Council: 08 8950 1711
  • At least 2 spare tyres,tool kit,torch.
  • At least 20 litres of Water (drinking quality)& basic supplies
  • A Satellite phone and/or UHF Radio
  • 4WD equipment, Maps and GPS
  • Ring ahead to your destination with your expected time
    of arrival
  • NO Leaded fuel available from Kata Tjuta to Laverton,
  • Limited unleaded fuel available (Opal fuel available) along road.
  • Diesel fuel is available along the Outback Highway
    approximately every 300km.
  • Please take your rubbish with you.
  • Some towns only have CDMA mobile service.Some roadhouses are cash only - bring enough cash with you.

WATER, WATER , WATER:
Humans rid water at about 2litres/ hr from our bodies- so take enough water with you to ensure you can counteract this process. There is usually someone on the road during the day however you may find there could be days between vehicles, in some areas along the road.

BE PREPARED IF YOU BREAK DOWN

  • Stay with your vehicle......
  • carry an emergency supply of water......
  • carry at least 2 spare tyres, tyre repair kit and air pump.........
  • notify a friend or relative of your estimated time of arrival- if you are overdue they can notify the police
  • carry enough fuel to cover 600km distances
  • carry emergency supply of food, blankets and matches
  • carry first aid equipment.
  • DON'T DRIVE TIRED.
