Action to Date on the Outback Way

  • Outback Highway Development Council to Canberra-  17th-20th March 2008 to provide an update of the road developments and Tourism project to the Government and Opposition as well as industry representatives.

  • Outback Way Budget Submission 2008-09- The OHDC Inc has made a submission to the Federal Government for the 2008-09 Budget  requesting  $10million/ year for the next 5 years to complete the project.

  • AUSTRALIAN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM-  The OHDcreceibed $487,000 to implement the integrated tourism plan- The Outback Way tourism route will be launched in June 2008- at the Brisbane 4X4 Show- showcasing the new website, the interpretive panels along the route, the new brochures & promotional material and  HEMA Outback Way  Guide book.

  • $20million upgrade- funds have been successfully rolled out onto the upgrading of the Outback Way with significant improvements to the road condition being experienced and enjoyed by travellers.

  • 12th  July  2006 - The $20million Outback Way upgrade project was launch at Harts Range by Minister Jim Lloyd

THE LOBBYING TEAM: The Executive Officer and lobbyist team is on board and have made contact with key people in Canberra and are having  initial discussions with interested parties in the States and Territory. Helen Carrell  based in Warwick Qld  and Carney & Associates based in Canberra create the Executive services and Lobbying team.
